Some households in Taiwan are connected to natural gas mains, others are not and buy bottled gas instead. Installation costs will often be charged if connection is made to the mains. As demand for mobile Internet access has grown in recent years, the Executive Yuan has set up the iTaiwan service comprising nearly 7,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in selected government offices and tourist attractions. After completing a simple registration process, users can enjoy free access to 1M-bandwidth Internet at any hotspot.
In addition to iTaiwan, Taipei City Government also provides the Taipei-Free service to all residents and visitors.
